There's a grain of truth to that though... Those who control the present, control the past. The past is rewritten to influence the future and consolidate position in the present.
Although I was a history graduate, "objectivity" in history is often a myth. Who does the looking and WHY are often more important than WHAT is being looked at. This applies to most other social sciences and, interesting enoughy, many hard sciences as well (See the Heisenberg principle)
