When you are first starting out, you can gain more than that naturally, I feel. Especially if you are into doing leg workouts. I find most significant muscle growth in beginners (for me, at least) occured in my legs. I'd say that if you are hitting your legs like they owe you money and have a diet to match, you can see 5 pounds in one month. 4 of which would be on your legs, of course.
I can see the appeal of juicing as well, however I would never consider it. With a good diet and natural lifting, you are in very, very good shape. If you add juice to the mix, the whole "being in great shape" thing goes right out the window. I say that because look at the best years of pro bodybuilding, the 1970's. How many of those guys are still alive? And for the ones who are, ask them about their bypass surgery. They've all suffered long term health problems. Or died.
I lift for health. any asthetic or strength improvements are a huge bonus :P
