Speaking of sheep..
Many feel 65 feet is ok, but even that's too much when miles of boom is stretched all along the shores and waterways preventing access to anywhere even remotely near the oil; effectively forcing photographers far further away than 65 feet.
And for anyone suggesting zoom lenses - good luck with that from 10, 20, 50 miles away - and even if one has uber-zoom lenses, seeing the ocean surface over the curvature of the Earth will be an issue. Umm, flying over would be easier, but wait, that's restricted too.
Rambling on, bottom line the so-called safety restrictions are NOT about safety, but rather all about cover-up. BP is running the show - the less the public sees, the less BP has to pay out; continue to do business as usual.
