This story is about the largest oil skimmer ever put into service, although it's being held up by the Coast Guard until they can clear a few things.
1. The ship is so large, it needs a half mile radius to operate, so they're going to see if that's possible...
What the fuck!!? Why not do what's necessary to make it possible?
2. The oil is taken into the ship and separated, then the water is spit back out into the gulf. They want to measure the environmental impact of that water coming back out.
WHAt the fucking FUCK?!!! Measure the impact?! How about the impact of thousand of barrels of crude spilling into the ocean, in the minutes it took to show that piece on CNN?
The idiocy and bureaucracy is mind-boggling.

in BC a government a few years ago decided to spend a few hundred million dollars on some new 'fast ferries', built outside of bc of course.
in the end, they were so fast they churned up the sea floor coming into port, spewing out pieces of otters, fish and birds as they were sucked through the engine
so sometimes bureaucracy is a good thing.. could have used more before this whole disaster
