In addition, it appears the Department of Homeland Security has recently reserved deepwaterhorizonresponse.gov - it's not yet active, and may never be, but the mere fact that .gov domain exists further supports the statements that the U.S. government is presumably seeking to take over the Deep Horizon Response website.
