Nice pics! And I love close ups, so I don't think it's too close :D
If it's for a 100+ photo set I think it's always a good idea to include a series of close ups like this. I mean on sites like ATK or Karups where you browse through the thumbs, the surfers who love it, will click and watch. Those who don't will just skip through them.
The more variety the better when it comes to angles and poses if you ask me.
