Just in the last month I've had 2 friends who preach the same gospel damn near kill me texting while driving. One would have hit a parked car on my side if I hadn't grabbed the wheel and steered us out of the way. He was not only texting but also eating his McDonalds at the same time. Why is it that cops aren't doing anything about that? Sure they've passed some laws in a few states but they aren;t being enforced. Why aren't the fines and penalties worse than DUI? Why don't we have texting check points? Sound rediculous? It is.. But if I have my way it will be that way in my state to make people realize that their "socializing addiction" doesn;t compare to alcoholics who have a real addiction and should be treated as such. Not tossed in jail where they will obviously learn more ways to break the law rather than get help with their addiction. Maybe when the jails are filled with texters will something change.. Maybe, but I doubt it but at least those dangerous texters will be off the streets and the city/state can earn more revenue..
