Affordable starting lenses:
Sigma 18-50 2.8
Sigma 50-150 2.8
L series glass is nice, really nice, but overkill for most usage these days.
The Canon 10-20 mentioned above is really nice, too, especially for a cropped sensor camera, but there are alternatives to that as well.
If you want shallow depth of field on your video go with an f1.8 lens. f1.4 lenses are exponentially more expensive.
