70-200 on a crop body sucks IMO. Far too narrow to be useful indoors but ok for the beach. I would recommend the Tamron 28-75 f/2.8 You can get one used for about $300, a constant 2.8 is awesome and it rivals any L glass lens for sharpness, colors and IQ. Only downside is its AF isnt too fast, so its not ideal for kids or sports. Models standing still is no problem though.
