actually you said "porn as the end product will will be phased out" and thats not even close.
yes damage has been done by tubes, file sharing, mediocre economy etc. but as black crayon stated very accurately "people want variety and they don't want to join a ton of sites to get it."
this is why the VOD model still works very well. it is the ultimate in variety, no paysite can match it and furthermore you don't have to JOIN anything. no membership fees, you just pay for what you want and watch it when you want to watch it.
that is freedom and diversity and its selling nicely.
any good VOD site like Moviedollars, AEBN, Gamelink etc will have something illegal tubes and file sharing douchebags do not have...constant NEW variety.
there is no tube or file sharing site on the planet which can keep up with the amount of new vids being released on VOD and millions of surfers know this.
Not only that, the surfers are quite aware by now that they do not want to put up with the malware and virus bullshit (not to mention spam) they have to wade thru with tubes and torrents.
okay i digressed a little, but my end point is that even though the online adult industry is hurting now, its far from being "phased out."
