Good points. Porn performers were never chosen for their ability to act. They are chosen for their ability in males to get wood, keep it, fuck as directed, cum on cue and look good. The last part did not always apply.
For females it was just that they would perform in front of a camera.
So why do so many producers today allow them to act out scenes and faking everything?
Getting a girl today to reveal who she really is, to have a real orgasm and fun and just being herself is a nightmare. The main reason is over production, limited skills of the director and budgets all often leading to a conveyor belt approach to porn. The model became the power in the shoot, if you don't like what she does she walks and goes work for those who will accept what she does.
This leads to a dumbing down of product and eventually to a resistance to buy.

My point exactly. The adaptation of the product by the publishers has been
get more for the same price or less. It's tough for content producers to adapt and innovate when their prices were falling. Also some of the producers were still learning how to shoot anything let alone porn a few years back. Just repeating the same mistakes the Video side of the industry made.
