I'd like to close this thread with a short resume:
Here's what happened, an updated story:
Vegas January 15 2008
I'm gambling, cashing out $ 1200
Derek comes over, grabs a $ 500 chip from my hand palm, I'm checking him out and I don't think it's funny
He's doing those silly grims and I'm joking that he can "keep it", he knows me for two years, but he might as well know that I'm pranking people all the time, he might as well know that it's not a good idea to keep other people's money, before I cash the $ 700 I'm looking around the casino but he's gone, gone with my $ 500. Over here, if someone would tell it to you it means "do you really think you can touch my money?"
After a while I'm looking for him and he's nowhere to find, I can't get in touch with him,
next morning around 11 AM I call his cell number to find out he's on a plane to Toronto
He promises me he'll pay back once he's back.
I'm back on January 19th and hitting him up on ICQ, asking if he can send it over to my paypal
His excuses:
- can't use corporate account
- doesn't have his own account
- has to wait till another pay period is over
etc. etc.
If you really want I can still find countless ICQ logs how he makes up one excuse after another for 8 months.
We're repeating this routine up until August where I tell him that I'm going to Florida so he's telling me that we'll catch up
August 2008 Hollywood Florida, the second day of the show we bump on each other and I'm saying hello what's up, didn't you forget about me I'm smiling I'm easy. So he gives me $ 350, I don't want to bother him for the rest of the show but of course I expect that he'll come over and pay the rest, he doesn't.
So I fly back work on some things and say this is not a priority, that I don't need to chase him down like crazy for $150, since it's a beer money. I'm trying to hit him up like three or four maybe five times in the meantime, every two or three months or so, after a couple months, so I don't scare him off, but he doesn't reply at all, so I'm saying don't sweat it guy is ok he's gonna pay you.
early 2010 I'm going through my Excel spreadsheed putting down contacts and sums owed, his money is the last priority, last priority since it's a personal money and not business money, I'm trying to hit him up in the meantime yet he doesn't respond
He finally responds in June 2010 as he probably forgot about it already, so I have this ICQ convo and telling him that $ 150 is not exactly a huge sum of money but we should make it clear.
Once again, I've made good money between 2005 - 2009, and continue to do ok in 2010, not exactly a super baller like most of GFY, but $ 500 has never been a question of life and death, yet I have this Jewish mentality and I won't let anyone yank with my money.
He Agrees once again and comes up with a "payment plan" - I agree (as in the ICQ log) but I tell to myself this guy was giving me bullshit excuses for long months and then he didn't even bother to reply to me for long months so I tell to myself ok he might be in trouble let's take it easy.
All of a sudden I see him buying himself new Macbook and whatever while the money are NOT on the account.
So after 28 months when he's unable to pay back and obviously lying to me, I decide to come to the boards, no regret.
That's the last straw, enough is enough, I make this thread, whereas he:
- immediately uses every personal information I ever told him to insult me
- admits he owes me money from Jan 2008
- pays me $ 150 that he wasn't able to send to me between August 2008 till July 2010 on the same day which just says something about his attitude to paying debts
I admit I've over reacted, and I apologize for that, I don't want to beat a dead horse, but his remark regarding someone that was the most important person in the world for me just triggered me and sorry, as impotent as it is I just overreacted on a message board. He wanted to irritate me and he touched my Achilles stand.
If I could I'd flush those money down the toilet but I'll rather donate them to cancer research, so this whole hassle has some sort of benefit for someone.
