The organizer let the people walk from the main station through the city to the goods station where the parade took place. They did it to sell their soft drinks and beer, like they did two years ago in Dortmund.
The old goods station has another entrance without a tunnel just near the main station. They used that one for the VIP area instead of using it to separate the entrance from the exit.
So the people had to walk through that tunnel which didnīt comply with the German rules for escape routes. The organizer even refused to open emergency exits while the people already have been seized with panic.
The situation was more or less similar to the one in Dortmund two yers ago, but they had a lot more room in Dortmund. About 180 metres width in Dortmund compared to less then 18 metres width in the tunnel in Duisburg.
They should hang the mayor as well as the organizer.
