For what it's worth - not much - I was in the music business for fifteen years, and got out around 1999 or so. I could tell, even back then, that music was going the way of Backstreet Boys and American Idol. Rock is dead (sadly), musicians today can barely play their instruemtns, and the #1 PROBLEM is that any of the great singers still left out there are either working in R&B or Pop, and those that try to "sing" in rock are, well, horrid. Can't hit a note, talk-sing more than SING, nothing distinctive.
Where are the Rod Stewarts, Robert Plants, John Lennon's, with their chill-inducing great pipes? Okay, all English. But even the American 'singers" can't hold a tune these days.
Highly sad. I blame corporate America.
