Honestly, I wasn't aware you could "rewrite" it. I didn't pay a lot of attention in school
We didn't rewrite the 18th Amendment, we repealed it and created a 21st Amendment. If we can rewrite it, great.
But as it is now, I don't see it protecting anyone except children of people who are here illegally. Remove that from the table and you won't have hospitals on the border overwhelmed with women who are there merely to have anchor babies, you won't have to provide medical services, food and housing to the kids, etc. And as seen by folks leaving AZ, once the freebie party is over, they will leave on their own.
I know a woman who is here illegally (from Germany, not Mexico - I want this to affect EVERYONE here illegally). She had 2 kids here. Because they are under 18, not only are they covered for everything, she has a free place to live, and SHE gets free medical and dental care. Multiply that times a few million.
And I agree with Tom - streamlining also needs to be put into place. But the fact remains, too many people are here illegally.
