Got one for the wife. She doubted its usefulness (in the same way that some in this thread have) and decided to stick with her laptop.
I ended up using the iPad and very quickly abandoned my laptop once I found that I can control any of my servers or desktops with it (Logmein or TeamViewer) and that I can transfer files to it through Dropbox. The app store did the rest.
I love my iPad. Truly.
She ended up using it several times over the past few weeks and now is asking for it more and more. She hasn't mustered up the courage yet to ask, but I know she wants one.
