All of this dates back to the Nixon era when the public demaned inexpensive food. Nixon signed off on subsidizing corn farms and other staples to produce affordable food products. Since then, they've genetically crafted this poison in all of our food in an effort to provide the mass public with cheap food.
The corn farmers are in the red without Government subsidization. What does this tell us? There's too much! We don't need all of that. 98% of the corn grown in the U.S. isn't even edible, it's used as feed stock for cattle. So it's not only in our beverages, cereal and just about everything, but it's also in the beef we have here.
It's out of control.

You are exactly right, but missing half of it. Sugar tariffs the government charges for sugar imports makes sugar very expensive in the US. This was done to protect domestic sugar producers (really just 1 or 2 big companies). So we have tons of dirt cheap inedible corn sold at well below market prices because of government subsidies and way overpriced sugar due to government sugar import tariffs.
