In La Jolla, walk down to the lifeguard tower along the water and go out on the walkway that extends into the ocean and check out the seals and the great view. You could go down to La Jolla shores beach and rent a kayak, there's a great route along the shoreline. You could also try surfing lessons there depending on the ages of your children. From La Jolla shores, drive just a couple minutes north to
Birch Aquarium , the kids will love it.
