Most politicians don't believe in deities, most 8+ year college graduates don't. Politicians have been lying about their belief in Zeus/god since the time of the Greeks and Romans. It's common knowledge to any educated person. It's so easy to fool the common populace when they believe you are following the will of their god.
Only problem is that you occasionally get true believer nuts like Palin in the mix and if these people gain power civilization crumbles as they are too ignorant to deal with the real responsibilities of leadership.
And the biggest morons here are usually the hardcore religious types. The atheists and the agnostics/deists are usually the ones that have something intelligent to say.
