Look at the unemployment rate. The Post WWII economic boom we experienced is greater than anything anyone ever had. There were negatives like the KKK sure, but the positives outweighed the negatives. People single out racism as the only reason why the 50s were apparently worse than now. Shit was cheap, people were employed, civility and morality were less debated and more closely followed, and hippies didn't exist.

Actually, if you compare the price of things in relation to how much money people made, things are cheaper today. Sure things sound cheap back then but people also made much, much less. I won't argue the unemployment, we need to start making things over here. I'd be willing to pay a bit more knowing that we're helping people at home rather thank cheaping out buying stuff made in china.
