The surveys were kind of long, I tried them myself and took a good while to complete. A horny surfer ain't likely to stand that crap and being dicked around. He wants it now, and often enough he wants it so bad that hes prepared to whip out his credit card to buy instant access.
The idea is good, but you gotta have a really good tease area, to let them know that "past this door is pretty much Utopia" to make them go through the survey part. Works ok on free tube sites where you give them a number of seconds before the content blocker shows up, but then you better own that content yourself or you will have sponsors being mad at you for monetizing their free promotional content like that.
