I watched his brother testify before the committee in real time. Friendly fire deaths are not unusual events in combat and sometimes happen on a large scale. It is not unusual for the military to hide/attempt to hide these events for more than one reason...not the least of which is for the benefit of the family. Also for the benefit of the family it is not unusual to play up the loss of a loved one...as having been a heroic death. I have engaged in combat multiple times and I am of the opinion that even peace time service is heroic and ones death should be left at that...the death of a hero.

It is my personal opinion that the Pat Tillman story should have been left to the initial reports made by the military.
