I personally drive an X5. I bought it because I want to be comfortable on long trips, it had a much more powerful diesel engine then the lower end SUVs, and because of the road quality here (or lack thereof), I needed a solidly built car that won't start rattling after 20000km because of some cheap plastic interior. Besides that, as mentioned earlier I like a car that shows success to my clients when I meet with them. It also motivates me when I feel I can buy myself nice things thanks to my hard work. In that way, it IS an investment.
