The piracy BS burns me out too. The past two years in this business has really put a bad taste in my mouth the way everything is unfolding.
Also keep in mind, I'm not working from the safety of my home or studio in the USA. I've been shooting abroad in 3rd world shit holes now for almost a decade. That's a long time man. That's how I made a living and now I've made my bed and have to sleep in it, but it doesn't make things any better when everything I've taken these risks for is ripped off almost as fast as I can shoot it.
You are a legit producer, but why even bother with 2257 anymore? That doesn't irritate you, that all the hard work you do to make sure everything is legit, doesn't matter? All the talk of 2257 is just horse shit. No one inspects, and the last time the FBI did inspect and found companies with violations, they simply gave them time to correct the issue or get rid of the content. There are simply no consequences for working illegally, shooting minors, stealing content, scamming people or anything else. This business gone from bad to worse and I'm simply tired of it. No other way to say it.
Example... I'm going to buy some of your content later. I like it, it looks great and being a producer, I want to pay you for it. However, I could just as easily say, fuck that, and just rip off every other site out there who has been stealing everyones content, including yours. And you know what, there would be ZERO consequences. CCbill would process for me, any hosting company would host it, and 99% of all affiliates would promote it if I gave them the right offer, even if they ALL know it's illegal content. Sorry man, that just bums me out and puts a bad taste in my mouth.
Now, having said all that, I'm still working, still shooting, building new sites and trucking on. I just don't look at this business with rose colored glasses on and really don't care if it all ends tomorrow. However, until it does end, I'll ride this bitch until the wheels fall off. Of course not all of the wheels will fall off, but it's coming to a head and its going to phase a LOT of people out. I'm looking forward to that. Maybe it will recharge my batteries. In the meantime, the industry is in a dark place were anything goes. That's not an industry I am happy to be a part of.
