My point is that there are often situations where there is no way to earn respect. There is no possible way that gay people who want to get married are going to "earn" the respect of the conservatives who don't want them to get married. There is nothing they can do to change the conservatives mind. Sometimes you have to scream and yell to get what you want.

That's a little different, when liberals used the spotted owl to close down forests.

The spotted owl was just part of it. There were also a lot of times when there was just a downturn in the economy and less lumber was being ordered and shipped so there were large layoffs.
But even if you want to use the spotted owl as an example, isn't that the same as the gay marriage and the gaining respect thing from above? The conservatives have passed laws stating that gays cannot get married. The gays are fighting back legally and you call that whining to get their way. But if the liberals pass a law that causes a conservative to lose his job or change the way he does his job, when they fight back they are doing the right thing. Suddenly whining to the government that things aren't fair is okay. Shouldn't these down and out conservatives just accept that their way of life has changed and quietly go about picking themselves up and dusting themselves off? As GFY says, shouldn't they just adapt or die?
I'm not blaming them for being upset. I grew up in the middle of this fight. I'm just playing devil's advocate and like Glenn Beck. . . I'm just asking questions.

FCC thru him off the air, FCC was started by FDR, a democrat

Actually the FCC never took him off the air. They fined him heavily and he couldn't convince Clear Channel or anyone else to fight the FCC and force a court case over the fines. After the big fines came down Clear Channel took him off the air and never paid him. He sued them, but from what I understand it was settled out of court (or maybe it is still pending I can't remember).
the FCC doesn't just decide one morning to shut people down, they respond to complaints and it was a conservative group (I think morality in media, but I'm not sure) who were the only people to file complaints against him. So yes, the FCC did fine him, but they did so while George Bush was in office and had conservatives running the FCC and they only investigated him because of a conservative group complaining.
That a democrat created the FCC means nothing in this argument. If the conservatives really don't wanted the FCC around and really want smaller government they had 6 years under Bush where they controlled all three branches. They could have easily gotten rid of it.
agreed.
