bounce rate is the most useless web stat available in my mind.
Unless you run a site like facebook or a community where you want people to be staying and doing stuff.
Low bounce is probably only good for the following type of sites:
social networks
educational sites
article sites
news sites
etc...
If you want people to be reading stuff/learning getting involved it's good.
If you have ads plastered over your site to sell a product/service then you may want a higher bounce rate because that probably 90% of the time means they are clicking through to what you're selling.
Membership sites will probably like to enjoy a lower bounce rate also, because the longer people stay there, paying for what is on offer, the less chance that site has of their surfers/visitors fucking off elsewhere.
