At least you learned your lesson. I left my second wife in 1997 due to her infidelity and cocaine abuse. Five years later, I agreed to a reconciliation due to pressure put on me by a number of agencies in this province (mental health Windsor (Hotel Dieu FTW!), ODSP, amongst others), and this idiotic idea I have that I'm obligated to provide and care for my family - people I married included.

Unfortunately, the agencies provided me with false information and led me to believe that her issues had been dealt with. They weren't.

Turns out that the agencies that were supporting her were going to cut off her financial support due to fraud (she was working while collecting disability), and they did not want to foot the bill for divorce.

I found this out in 2007 when my divorce case finally made the courts. Funny thing is, the province of Ontario is willing to spend hundreds of thousands of dollars to defend a self-admitted cocaine addict with "severe mental problems" in divorce court while I - the guy who got custody of the kids and is now putting them through college - has to cough up $300 an hour to fight this whore who bounces from hospital to hospital trying to control a habit that she'll never beat.

My government would treat me be better if I just got off a boat from Sri Lanka.
