I think as we get closer to the actual election the democratic base will get more and more motivated. About 9-10 months ago the democrats were not all that enthusiastic because they had all three houses, but now that it looks like they probably will lose the house and maybe the senate, they seem to be getting more and more motivated.
Obama will be all over the place in the next few months trying to convince everyone that things are getting better and that he hasn't dropped the ball.
If somehow the republicans fail to win back the house or senate in November they are going to shit themselves and we could see some major changes in that party.
