I'll have to agree with you. ePass was in the right place for this industry at the time when Paypal simply became unworkable, and had the right tools in place to capture that business.
I don't believe that a movie has caused this issue; I wouldn't be inclined to think that, but I'm also offering no opinion on what may or may not be going on with the company, since it's none of my business.
I do think that silence might work against them as far as public perception, but again, none of my business.
If someone else has a viable solution and there is no resolution quickly, or at least explanation, it would definitely lead to a possible market shift.
