While there is the porn chick privacy issue, the technology IS useful.
For example, my wife and I are looking at different resorts in Hawaii that we haven't stayed at yet, and for context within its environment, I've been checking various properties from space, using Google Earth to better see the hotel and surrounding property, beach access, etc.
In certain modes, Google Earth has pinpoints overlayed on the map / satellite image that you are viewing. Click on one and a photo along with its image meta data appears, such as "Pool bar at sunset" or "Sea turtles in lagoon" -- with the pinpoint showing exactly where the photo was taken.
This organic view of the properties, from the perspective of other tourists, is far more valuable than any brochure.
