Most affiliates were surfers at one point. They came from somewhere. No affiliates, who are you talking to on GFY?
I became an affiliate by being brought into the business by my ex-partner Al4a in the mid 1990's. I didn't read about it on a forum (gfy didn't exist obviously). And I didn't get the keys to the kingdom handed to me right off the bat either. I had to prove myself.

It was a bit of a secret back then. And I learned from the best guys in the business, which then led to my success as an affiliate.

I think we both know how many thousands of "affiliates" signed up, downloaded the ad tools free content to jerk to and never sent a single hit. They don't do that much anymore thanks to piracy because they can just get everything for free without signing up.

When I started...people didn't even know what an affiliate program was. Now it's general info amongst the public.

And all of that non-withstanding...We are under attack (you know that better than most). Do we really need to be posting up our business for pirates to laugh about on their forums? I don't see what it would hurt in any way to keep non-industry people OUT.

If someone becomes an affiliate by clicking a webmaster link on a paysite then so be it. They can figure it out the old way and really learn the business from the ground up like we did. And when they get established then they can join the community. That's the way I see it working, it's backwards right now.
