Mick Jagger took his stage presence from black artists. And they took theirs from their predecessors and on and on and on.
Every guitar based rock band in the world has a guy wearing black leather just like Keith Richards in the 1970's.
It's always been that way. Madonna patterned herself after Deborah Harry from Blondie.
It's called taking a concept and building upon it.
I don't see a problem with it. When I go see a rock band I WANT to see the guitarists in black leather and a front man grabbing a mic stand working the crowd...doesn't matter if it's The Stones, Led Zeppelin, The Ramones, The Sex Pistols, some things are just meant to be onstage.
Same with GaGa...she is just taking what her predecessors did and taking it to another level entertainment-wise. I see no problem with an entertainer actually entertaining.
Pink Floyd used tons of stage props in their shows. They were famous for it. And that was 40 years ago. I can only imagine the extravaganza that Roger Waters is presenting for his "The Wall" tour this year.
