This one is pretty much identical to mine, minus the spoiler. I wanted a perfect Z32 (the name of the 1990-1996 300ZX's body style) to start with.

So, I found one for sale in Morgan City, Louisiana. I took a one way rental car to get there, and drove it back on 4/6 cylinders (23 hour, 900 mile round trip - in ONE day), since it had two clogged injectors. But, it was exactly what I was looking for. A pristine 2+2 non-turbo, automatic transmission.

Because this was the least desirable configuration the Z came in at the time, the likelihood of some dumb faggots ricing/ruining it was very low. In fact, it was actually a single owner granny car this whole time.

So what did I do? I converted it to a 5spd, completely rebuild the brake system and completely rebuilt the entire suspension from the ground up with all new bushings, shocks, springs, control arms, sway bars, etc etc. (about $3k in suspension parts alone).

Now, mechanically speaking, only the engine is not far better than brand new. To remedy that, I have a second 300ZX in my driveway that I purchased from someone who just wrecked it (but the engine bay is perfectly fine). Once I finish parting out the second car, I will take the revenue from that to buy a brand new wiring harness, timing kit and ECU, and swap the 300HP twin turbo motor from the second Z into my main one. The ECU upgrade will put me at about 310-315.

From there, the last step is upgrading turbos, intercoolers, fuel system and exhaust, then cleaning up the body for a fresh coat of Ferrari red paint and putting on new wheels and tires.

When done (I've been working on this one for a year) in about 8-10 months, it will be a 400RWHP customized beauty, that is both able to rip it at the track, and still be comfy to go get groceries in, all for a grand total of about $15k spent. Not bad, eh?
