How is she a poacher? It was a legal hunt used to control the alligator population.
They do the same thing around here for deer. They become unhealthy if you let them get overpopulated, eating up all their food supply and eventually they begin to starve and become diseased.
Not sure about alligators, but I would assume they have similar issues when they become overpopulated.
