Actually you do not have to be that rich to spread your funds. After one bank I was using nearly went bankrupt, I prefer to have multiple accounts even if I can only put 5-10K in each. Personal checking accounts do not cost much to run. Usually less than $100 per year.
At least for now I'm not starving as some other people who had all of their money in Epass.
