watch, my next site has the first/lastname.com and won't have this problem - the problem is I named this site with terms that are generic to Google 'private school jewel'. If i had named it JewelDavis.com it would be first page.
my mistake wasn't doing an intensive seo campaign - my mistake was using generic terms in a domain name - which does now force me to compete with pages much better seo optimized.

but that is probably because a term like jewel davis would have very little to no competition at all
a term like private school jewel might have many more sites to compete with because of the private school part
google does give a priority to the domain when listing sites but a domain alone with no titles/description/keywords/linkbacks is not enough
