I just learned something more about this. Take a look at this quote on the roommate's Twitter:



He posted a similar message to his Facebook account too. What he was doing was using iChat to remotely broadcast his webcam to all his friends while his roommate was in the room having sex with some guy. Apparently a lot of people watched live as it happened. The kid later finds out everyone saw it and jumps off a bridge and kills himself.
