It shouldn't matter what kind of company it is. If they own the intellectual property and someone downloaded (stole) it for free then that someone deserves to get sued, as does the owner or owners of the site that facilitated the theft.
Don't want your privacy violated in this manner? Then don't go torrenting. I think that's the underlying message in all this.
