It shouldn't matter what kind of company it is. If they own the intellectual property and someone downloaded (stole) it for free then that someone deserves to get sued, as does the owner or owners of the site that facilitated the theft.
Don't want your privacy violated in this manner? Then don't go torrenting. I think that's the underlying message in all this.

I know where this is all coming from, and can certainly see the benefits... but also can see it as another shot in the foot to adult, trust is something we're already lacking from surfers and now they're basically being "embarrassed" into settling on a lawsuit, which seems like
borderline blackmail to me.... perhaps I'm wrong?
I mean none of this shit worked for mainstream, and yes I'd feel more comfortable with say Virgin music accessing my info over MidgettrannyHorsedicks.com anyday.
IMO it's the site owners fault in the first place, they should've dealt with this shit 10 years ago and we wouldn't be where we are.
The site owners till this day do very little to protect their content, and they're all in bed with the same fuckers that steal it all too often, especially when it comes to tubes.
But hey now that we're all broke and hurting, let's go after the same surfers we fucked for years, making them lose even more trust in the porn industry.
IMO surfers view the torrent sites are a lot safer to visit than a porn site, and that says a lot in itself... it's not
all about the free porn, many of these guys that are downloading stuff have been fucked time and time again, charged $200 for a membership that should've been a $5 trial and then we wonder why they go to where it's free? and certain they are getting what they want?
The fact that piracy is so huge shows just how much this industry failed itself.
