It has finally stopped raining.
Family says the pier is underwater but they are otherwise fine... most houses are built up on hills for that reason ... I'm sure there are plenty of low lying houses but I do not personally know people in any.
The flooding happened in my house because I have a walk-in basement with a concrete stairwell in the ground and the water was building up there too quickly and overwhelmed the drain. I'm pretty sure that is the extend of the flooding for most people except downtown, but they are used to such floods and the city usually sandbags in time. I will get out and survey the damage tomorrow.
Could have been a lot worse if it didn't stop. High tide might be a problem for some.
I'm in Annapolis, Maryland, 30 minutes outside of DC.
