Last thing is this, and listen close:We do not live in a democracy. You have no say in how any money is spent by the federal government. The only thing you personally can do, is vote for one of the 2 chimps they ALLOW you to vote for. Now, unless you run for office and win, or someone you are really tight with, you have no say in how much granny gets for her geritol and orthopedic knee highs. The word of the day is~ OBLIGATION. Google it. We the people, our government, TOOK money from these people to "pay" for the well being of the elderly. The promise, by We the people, was to look after those people when they became elderly. Just as we the people, promise to take care of your sorry ass when you become elderly. Right, wrong it makes no difference. There is an OBLIGATION (see, there' that word again) to take your money and care for the elderly.
You show me the signed GUARANTEE that when I get old I will have Medicare and social security? All I have is a PROMISE which means nothing since the people promising this stuff will be dead or out of power and all the people in power will have to say is "we didn't promise you anything"

The fact is that you can't keeping paying the same benefits in SS and medicare. You are getting more people on SS and medicare and those people are also living longer and we are having fewer workers making fewer dollars. The system can not continue forever as is. So what are you going to do?

Raise retirment age? Breaks promise of getting money at 65( or in my case now 67 )
Reduce benefits? Breaks promise of giving you FULL benefits.
Raise FICA taxes? Great way to not get re-elected. So your opponent accuse you of raising taxes on "hard working" Americans?

So when you say "Just as we the people, promise to take care of your sorry ass when you become elderly" I'll take that with a HUGE grain of salt.
