I think it's hard to compare Family Guy and the Simpsons because their humor stems from different things.
Personally, I may not be in tune with the intelligent,
"underlying" humor of the simpsons, but nothing makes me laugh like Family Guy.
I guess that means I do prefer toilet-type humor. Regardless, my opinion is that Family Guy's humor is way more accessible to people, it's a shame that the writers have to go to such extremes for their material though.
