Regardless of what the germans did during ww2, it wasn't the soldiers, it was the leaders, they were told what to do.

It is 100% his right to dress like that. Personally it doesn't bother me. It takes a lot to offend me. However, if you are running for public office and you decide to do something that could be seen as offensive by some, you have to expect that they may speak out about it. After all, it is just as much their right to tell you they didn't like your costume/actions as it is yours to do/wear them.
