I have just looked online at the samsung, & must admit that it looks a little cheaper as there is no silver surround, slide or flashness to it. But the screen, the slimmer width, & the apps are important.

Build quality on the phone is as good if not better than the iPhone. Mine is the only variant with the slide out keyboard. The last sliding keyboard I had (also a Samsung) wasn't to sturdy...this one they finally managed to do right.
The screen unreal, even in direct sunlight.
If you want "flashness", this phone actually comes with and runs Flash
