and regarding boxing vs. mma: i dont consider mma a sport and i'm not interested in watching it. and it never will be popular over here, in some countries public fights are already forbidden
That seems like such an odd attitude to me. If you are a fan of boxing, which is also a man vs man combat sport, MMA is not a far stretch. After all MMA is simply a combinaton of several already recognized, legitimite Olympic sports including boxing, Graeco-Roman wrestling, karate, jujitsu, judo and some others. The UFC already had at least one event in Germany which went off fairly well despite some local opposition.

MMA is so popular and the world's fastest growing sport of the 21st century for a reason. It has captured the public's hunger for entertaining fighting sports, just like boxing did in America and across the world in the 20th century. One could even make the argument that boxing is far more dangerous for the fighters, who get their already concussed brains further bashed in after a standing eight count, whereas MMA fighters get the fight stopped by the refereee if they are obviously cannot fight back effectively, saving them from receiving further, cumulative punishment.
