To add insult to injury, RCN have current back ups of our site (as well as everyone else on their network) available to them, yet requests to do a server copy of our backup to our new server have gone ignored. Every hour is costing us a lot of money and I can not tell you how frustrating this is for me as a long-term, loyal customer.
This leads me to wonder one of two questions.
1/ Did their backup servers with our sites data get hosed as well? It would make sense considering the length of time it is taking them to bring sites back, in fact can anyone clarify if their server has been brought back up yet? I would assume that their site (
http://www.realitychecknetwork.com/) would have been one of the first they would bring back online. Are they spending all this time doing data-recovery on hard drives?
2/ Assuming they do have all our backups, why would they not quickly try to rectify this by ftp'ing the files we need to our new server so we can be back in business?
Disclaimer: I have been a loyal customer of RCN and have almost never been disappointed by their service, but their damage control response to this incident looks like it is going to put a lot of us out of business.
Unfortunately it seems those of us that have jumped and reacted by purchasing a new server on another network to migrate to are not getting the support we require.
