In Melbourne our street walkers are pretty much confined to an area called St Kilda.
In recent years you see very few hookers around anymore.
This has been for two reasons, one the cops are cracking down on curb crawlers pretty hard with random stops and breathalyzers set up at night to deter curb crawlers but also because the economy is much better here and the social security benefits have recently been increased.
I have always found that when the economy is bad it's easier to hire people in the sex industry but when the economy is good there is not the wide availability of people wanting work in the industry.
