I could have made a lot more money over the last 11 years. But I chose not to cheat my affiliates, my employees, my models, or my members. I turned down $100k/week to install spyware. I never shaved, I never spammed, I never did hidden prechecked xsales, and I never stole content. Fuck yes, I could have made more money!
I've supported ASACP, FSC, the fight against Acacia, and now the war on piracy. I sponsored dozens of conventions just for the fun of it. I donated to many people here who needed help. But that doesn't matter now, because I'm not running my websites the way YOU think they should be run!
Lightspeed's peak year was in 2005. We were rolling in money. Millions. But I was miserable that year. I turned 40. I almost lost my family. I had a terrible drug addiction. And I was chasing away my closest friends. So I put the brakes on Lightspeed, and started working to fix my personal life. Since then, I've cleaned up, saved my marriage, and spent several wonderful years at home with my children. All worth more to me that money or fame ever will.
So now, I am a "dinosaur" and I'm "out of touch", and I must be only making a fraction of my prior years. No, I'M HAPPY. I hope someday you'll all do something that makes you happy too.

Steve, don't be so sensitive. I was replying to Mutts comment that if Lightspeed is only making a couple hundred thousand a year in rebills now then it must have been on a big decline from where it was.
You don't have to live up to anyone's expectations but your own. I applaud you for not cheating affiliates, shaving, using spy ware etc.
If you are just doing this as a hobby and you don't care and don't need the money because you are retired a couple times over than fine. But it just didn't seem like that from your posts here looking for the next superstar and your comments about having several new sites to roll out. It seems like you do care and you want to make your business a success again in the future. The replies here made by me and many others where about your reluctance to make changes when needed to keep your sites going as a success in the future. If you don't need the money and prefer to keep doing things the same way and making less then pardon me and ignore my comments.
While I am sure this thread has bothered you from the people taking pop shots at you, that wasn't the case from my posts. I was trying to help.
Seriously, if you care about lightspeed and want to turn it around consult with someone else to get help. But if you don't care about future success or making more money then more power to you, keep doing what you doing.
