I think the key would be traffic in your early days starting out. If you can get good traffic (quality as well as quantity) then the world is your oyster. Certainly things like cam sites can make you money, but I would generate that money by sending traffic to existing well known cam sites rather than trying to start your own cam site (unless it was a white label. in which case you are still leaving all the back end stuff to the cam site and just concentrating on traffic).
Look at a blog network targetting a specific niche as a good way to start. Blogs are good ways of generating high quality search engine traffic but are also fairly simple to start / run for a newbie.
Ignore the people on here who say it's hard to make money in the industry these days - if you target the right niche and work consistently then you will do just fine - it just isn't like shooting fish in a barrel like it used to be. Good luck
