You're right. My daughter uses her Blackberry and Facebook to organize and co-ordinate her college projects and assignments.
As phones get smarter, though, Facebook is going to become less and less relevant. To the point where it'll become an unnecessary inconvenience. Then all that will be left at Facebook is a bunch of people you don't want to talk to, Farmville, and annoying relatives who will still phone you every Sunday.
Facebook is a middleman - and no matter how big they get, middlemen are always expendable.
